For more than 50 years they have aided designers in color matching colors with specific designs when a design enters the production stage. Pantone introduced Ultimate Gray and Illuminating as the color of the year for 2021. These two colors create an image of strength and hopefulness that uplift and express a union of positivity supported by fortitude.
The color Ultimate Gray is a subtle gray which is visually easy on the eyes. According to Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute, this color is “Practical and rock solid but at the same time warming and optimistic, this is a color combination that gives us resilience and hope. We need to feel encouraged and uplifted, this is essential to the human spirit.”
Illuminating is a type of yellow that brings vibrance and positivity into any design. This color brings in a sense of fresh beginning and welcomeness that is a necessity in creating the perfect ambiance. It is a color like no other. With the pairing of these colors, the tones balance and create a zen vibe. Though these are interesting colors to combine, there are endless ways to integrate them into any area or design.
In interior design it is important to know how to handle the colors in the spaces making them part of the design, Ultimate Gray + Iluminating are two colors that allow us to play with them freely on walls, ceilings and furniture.
